Privacy Policy

Lavaan & Lights (“we,” “us”) is a digital wedding-planning service operated from British Columbia, Canada. We provide a personalized Punjabi & Sikh wedding blueprint and a shop of digital planning guides for couples across Canada. You can reach us any time at hello@lavaanandlights.com.

We collect only the information needed to create and deliver your order:

• Contact details you give us — your name, email address and optional phone number.
• Wedding details you enter in the intake form — your city, dates, guest count, budget range, ceremony preferences, and optional family concerns, priorities and private free-text planning answers you choose to share.
• Order information — which product you bought and when. Payment card details are entered directly with our payment processor (Stripe); we never see or store your full card number.
• Basic technical data your browser sends automatically (such as your IP address and device type), used to keep the site secure and working.

• To generate your personalized blueprint and deliver the digital products you ordered.
• To email you your order, your blueprint link, and any follow-up needed to fulfil it.
• To provide support and answer your questions.
• To process payments and keep records required for tax and accounting.
• To protect the site against fraud and abuse.
• To understand website usage and improve the service using analytics that exclude private blueprint and intake pages.

We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

Support messages and feedback are stored privately with the contact details you supply. Purchase-linked feedback uses the email from your order so we can respond. Reviews are optional: we publish only the display name, rating, review text, product and submission date you agree to share, after checking for privacy, spam and relevance. Your email and payment details are never part of a public review.

We keep a record when our email provider accepts a delivery message and when our server serves a purchased file. These records help troubleshoot missing downloads; they do not prove that you opened, read or liked the guide. We do not add email-open pixels for this purpose. Private order and feedback pages are excluded from website analytics.

Contact us to correct or remove your review or request deletion of your feedback. We keep feedback while needed to respond and improve the product, subject to the retention and deletion rights below.

Your personalized blueprint is automated, without human review. It is created by combining our own rules with a large-language-model service provided by Anthropic (Claude). To write your plan, the wedding details you enter are sent to Anthropic’s API. Anthropic processes this data on our behalf to return your blueprint and, per its business terms, does not use it to train its models. Contact fields, inspiration, family-politics and additional-notes fields are excluded from the narrative request. Names in the deterministic planning summary may be included. Other planning answers and your planning question may be included; avoid unnecessary sensitive details. Rules-based planning remains available if AI enhancement fails.

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Lavaan & Lights, and only as needed to deliver your order:

• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe handles your card details under its own privacy policy.
• Resend — sending your order and blueprint emails.
• OpenAI — processing consented invitation reference photos and artwork requests when the invitation service is open.
• Vercel — website hosting, blueprint storage and website usage analytics.
• Anthropic — generating your blueprint, as described above.

Some of these providers may process data outside Canada (including in the United States), where different privacy laws apply. We may also disclose information if required by law.

We keep this simple: we use only the essential cookies needed to operate the site (for example, to keep an admin session secure). We do not use advertising cookies. Vercel Analytics records page views and site interactions to help us understand usage; our own store measurement is described above. Planning-form drafts are saved in your browser’s local storage so you can resume them; clearing your browser’s site data removes those drafts.

Blueprint worksheet edits — action owners, quotes, payments, event handoffs and decision notes — also stay in this browser’s local storage. They are not synchronized to your saved order or sent to us by the worksheet. Clearing site data can remove them. Export a worksheet backup if you want to keep or move your edits; importing a backup replaces the current local worksheet after confirmation. Downloaded backups may contain private notes. The separate family summary uses your original planning details and excludes private worries, contact details and budget amounts. Review it before sharing; the worksheet does not send it to anyone automatically.

We run our own visit measurement so we can see which pages, guides and checkout steps help couples and where they get stuck. It does not use cookies, advertising trackers, session recording or fingerprinting, and it never records what you type, the text you click, your email, card details, IP address, full web addresses, search terms or any private page (blueprints, intake, receipts, gifts, invitation orders or feedback).

By default it counts anonymous visits: your browser tab holds a random session number that is discarded after 30 idle minutes or when the tab closes. With it we record the public page type you viewed, the guide or service a page is about, buy or start clicks, whether checkout showed an error, that a free-starter or invitation-request form was submitted (never its contents), and a broad arrival category such as “search” or “social”.

If you choose Allow linking to my order, the same random session number is attached to the checkout you start, so we can see which pages led to a purchase. If you choose Don’t measure me, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, your browser sends no store measurement and no Vercel Analytics page views or events. Your choice is saved in this browser only. Payment, delivery, download and support records are needed to fulfil orders and continue either way.

Measurement records are stored privately on our hosting provider (Vercel) and deleted after 90 days. They are not sold, shared for advertising or combined with data from other sites. Because they hold no name or contact details, we usually cannot find one person’s records; you can clear them from your side by clearing this site’s data, and they expire automatically.

Change your measurement choice

We keep your order and blueprint for as long as needed to deliver and support your purchase and to meet legal and accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete your personal information at any time and we will do so unless we’re required to keep it.

When invitation requests are open, we collect two adult reference photos, names, event details, contact email and your consent to prepare an illustrated film. Reference photos, briefs, proofs and final films are stored in private Vercel Blob storage. Authorized studio operators can access them. Your reference photos may be provided to OpenAI image generation tools to create your requested portraits; processing may occur outside Canada. We do not publish them as sample work without separate permission.

Your private order link is an access credential: keep the entire link private. For new orders, payment is handled by Stripe before personalized generation. Existing orders keep their saved terms. Ask us to withdraw an unpaid request, remove your photos or delete working files by emailing hello@lavaanandlights.com. We retain working files while an order or support request is active; deletion is handled by the studio and is not an automatic expiry. Required payment records may be retained separately.

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act, you can:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong.
• Ask us to delete your personal information.
• Withdraw consent for future use of your information.

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your data seriously.

Our service is intended for adults planning a wedding. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority.
